The new year is approaching and my reaction is always "oh crap! what have I DONE this entire year!?" I run around fretting for a bit, then sit down, whip out my sketchbook and start drawing whatever random image pops into my head, as if this sudden burst of "freak-out" production could fool myself into believing the passing year wasn't completely wasted. So I present to you, oh starving devart account, a chunky plate of sketches...and more sketches. Despite this, I'm actually quite content with this update. It consists of a fair variety of observational sketches and my original musings. While none are completed works of my utmost satisfaction, the sketches are a testament to my endeavors for getting into the practice of jotting down pictorial notes, which serve as the seeds of ideas for potential projects of a more significant magnitude.

Overall, I'm striving to be a more prolific artist rather than one that waits around to be hit by an arbitrary brick of genius. But I hesitate to make that a New Year's Resolution because I'm practically superstitious about it; making New Year's Resolutions is like sticking a gigantic target on your hopes for self-improvement for your human indolence to demolish. Also, this has been an artistic practice that I've been endeavoring for a long time now, thus I see no need to signify the manifestation of my yearning through new year's when its presence has afflicted me beyond any frivolous form of societal time management.

But enough of my senseless jabber. I've long learned to not be surprised at the self-disappointment that usually occurs with clinging on to the fading year and the reflection upon the artistic accomplishments that sporadically dot its chronology. This year, the disappointment is still there, but a little bit of "hey, not too shabby" is there too. I think I'm getting somewhere at the very least.
